Formation of Canadian Chambers of the Indo Pacific (CCIP)

On 16 April 2026, the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Malaysia (CanCham Malaysia) was proud to join 20 other chambers and business associations across the region in the signing of a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), officially forming the Canadian Chambers of the Indo Pacific—a unified network to amplify the voice of Canadian business across Asia.

Witnessed by Prime Minister Mark Carney, this historic initiative marks the first time Canadian chambers outside of Canada have come together in such a coordinated and strategic partnership.

As part of this network, CanCham Malaysia, under the leadership of President Nancy Fortner, is committed to strengthening trade and investment ties, fostering collaboration, and unlocking new opportunities between Canada and the Indo-Pacific region.

The CCIP will serve as a platform to:
• Advocate on key trade and investment issues
• Share knowledge and best practices across markets
• Drive joint initiatives, including trade missions and conferences
• Strengthen engagement with government and regional stakeholders

In an era of evolving global trade dynamics, this partnership reflects a shared commitment to building resilient, forward-looking economic relationships across borders.

Also, congratulations to Adam Janikowski, PhD and Brett Stephenson on this milestone!

We look forward to working alongside our fellow chambers, members, and partners to translate this achievement into meaningful impact for the Canadian and regional business community.
